This article is written by A. Scott Rood in June 2010. It was published in the Journal of Tourism Insights. A. Scott Rood is an Assistant Professor at Grand Valley State University. This article aims at providing proper insight to the authorities so that they can devise effective management strategies for bridging intergenerational gap in the workforce. This also aims at improvement of morale and productivity of resort industry. The employees were grouped into matures, baby boomers, generation X and Millennials relative to their year of birth. The research methodology used in formulating this article is focus group discussions. The discussion results from each group were passed to the analysts to scrutinize issues faced by different generational groups. A survey was designed based on study of Gursoy et al. in 2008. It characterized questions in seven levels from intensely agreed to intensely disagree. The findings of the research suggest that mature workers are most serious committed to work than other generations.

They need appreciation in return. Rood suggests that by understanding these problems and nature of different generations, resorts can improve their performance and productivity.
