The Smithsonian: The Smithsonian Museum is in Washington D.C, United States. It is one of the oldest and largest museums. Museums such as the Smithsonian have increased ways to adapt to diverse audience. They are increasing the number of museum offerings and exhibitions in which the community participation is increased. They offer education and public programs where the local schools are invited to participate. The non-traditional audiences are invited to take part in the exhibition offerings and this ensures that diverse audience who museums have not tapped into before are being engaged. In addition the museum also planned to modify the user experience settings and activities for the underrepresented audiences. Outreach campaigns were organized such that African Americans, Latinos, and the more underrepresented immigrant community are brought into focus. The purpose of the outreach campaign is also to present collections to people who might not educate enough to appreciate the collection. Audience engagement was targeted such that people would at least have a visiting interest and for this the outreach served like a hook (Smithsonian Institution, 2001).
