All these disease are born from the diseases related to water. According to the Water Board, 260 litters of water is allotted to every person in Mumbai every day, but the people who live in high areas consumes much more water. Wastage of water is another major reason for the sanitation issues. A large amount of water is wasted due to the over consumption of water by the people in other areas. This is needed to be minimized.
The government of Maharashtra has started a number of programs in order to solve the problem of sanitation. The international bodies such as world-bank are also assisting the government in the implementation of the plans for the sanitation problems in Mumbai. One of the biggest projects which were started by the Maharashtra government and World Bank for the sanitation problems in Mumbai slums was named as the Mumbai Slum Sanitation Programs.
