The city of Lucerne in Switzerland has been taken as the example for the study. Generation Y tourist’s most frequent reason for using their mobile devices was to check social media as noted by Dewan & Benckendorff (2013) and as summarized by Gotardi et al. (2015).  City destinations act as fertile ground for an abundance of mobile tourism services and applications as they typically feature a) good coverage with mobile broadband of the likes of 3G and 4G/LTE b) high concentration of attractions and points of interests c) presence of many Wi-Fi hotspots at public or semi-public places.
