In 1990s, the society was mostly “anti-fashion”. That was the time when people preferred to choose dresses from various sources and do not stick to one single look. It was the time of technical evolution and computers and internet helped the society to learn about new and creative fashion trends. There was a vast difference in the societal trend during 1980s and 1990s. On one hand during 1980s individual especially women were more specific about looking glamorous with the help of make-up and funky accessories whereas on other hand during 1990s, they preferred to be simple with light toned make-up and minimal jewellery.
Fashion has got huge impact on society. In the society fashion gives the first impression about an individual. In order to leave a good impact during the first meeting, it is very important to be nicely dressed and be up to date as per the current fashion trends. With the help of fashion or clothing the individual’s personality is being judged. Even in the professional meetings, the individuals are judged based upon their dress and looks. The clothing tells about the seriousness of the candidate towards the job (Birtwistle & Moore, 2007). Hence, in the society where clothing and looks are important fashion trends have a got a significant role. It gets very important for the individuals to make sure that their dress; make-up etc. should be as per the fashion trend and according to ones’ own personality.
Fashion trend brings a lot of novelty and creativity into society. It would be wrong to say that fashion is completely responsible for the changes but it definitely has got a significant role to play in bringing the changes in the society. These changes sometimes did well for the society but sometimes influenced the society in wrong manner.
