In the study of Thomas Nagel, he used sexual perversion as a metaphor which he described that sex is a communication. Prior to certain sexual perversion cases, he also explained some skeptical arguments from the point of view of sexual behaviors of perversion. These cases showed that the assailants use sex as an appetite. Certain arguments are contradicted by Thomas Nagel as those arguments represent that appetites are absolutely normal, sex is just an appetite and all of the sex is totally normal (Calhoun & Cheshire, 1997). Nagel countered all these arguments and he said that the appetite is nothing but a behavioral factor that shows the person is not normal.
Nagel also addressed that voyeurism, masochism, sadism and exhibitionism are the incomplete and curtailed forms of sexual communication. He also humored the concept by looking at homosexuality and mentioned that as in homosexuality the two individuals are of same sex, therefore they can easily complete the communication. Three conditions related to sexual perversion can be drawn into attention without any further analysis. Those conditions are that sexual perversion is an unnatural sexual desire, plain sex is not perversion, and fetishism is perverse. Perversion is the unnatural sexual inclination in opposition with the unnatural practices that are adopted because of other reasons. When it comes to sexual perversion, it is not physiological interest which is required; on the contrary, it requires psychological interest. With the hypothetical examples illustrated by Nagel, different situations have been given by the author in the form of Romeo and Juliet scenarios. He mentioned three steps as sensing the object, self-awareness and mutual awareness when it comes to sexual perversion, though here common extensions are known as intercourse along with physical contacts (Wilkerson &Khan, 2009).
All of the above-mentioned concepts are valuable, but only when all of these meet the general conditions. In case of perversion, some people think that desire can’t just be classified and the cases of perversion do not make any sense. Those people who say the opposite always disagree about the application. Sexuality is a very imperative part of human beings and there is no doubt in it (Wilkerson & Khan, 2009). However, the ability of reproduction also defines how the people see themselves and how they relate with each other physically.
