After China became a member of the WTO (World Trade Organization, 2001), the opening up and de-regulation of the domestic financial system has been on the agenda of Chinese regulatory authorities. For the past 16 years, the Chinese bank industry has achieved a safe and opening up period (Information Office of the State Council, 2011). During the same period, foreign banks like HSBC have entered the Chinese market. At the same time, the foreign advanced management experience and skills including CRM, is still in compliance to the construction of risk management system at the initial stage of the domestic banks. Some foreign banks, in the process of cooperation with the domestic bank’s strategy, will be adjusted appropriately after local bank compliance risk management model to its original management system.
Whether foreign banks operate in China, the introduction of foreign compliance risk management concepts and system needs to adopt a more scientific, objective and rational attitude, to achieve better effect.Thus, this paper chooses HSBC, one of the biggest commercial bank in Hong Kong as the sponsor. The main study objective is the CRM department of HSBC in Hong Kong Branch.
The innovation of this thesis is to research and analyse the compliance risk management practice of foreign commercial banks (HSBC) operating in Hong Kong, with the purpose of supplementing the other study about the CRM problems of HSBC. Moreover, this study will give the recommendations to HSBC in Hong Kong to improve the CRM system.
The research framework of this research consists of a study of the underwriting problems in the event of HSBC expansion. (A) Based on theories on CRM system, construction and operation (B) the empirical research will be conducted by interviewing the team of CRM and desk research. (C) With the results of the empirical research and the theories, an in-depth analysis will be made. (D) With the results of the analysis, conclusions will be drawn and recommended to HSBC in Hong Kong.
