The purpose of the East African Playground initiative is to ensure the presence of planned playground spaces for children. The EAP programme aims to create inclusive and fun playgrounds for the deprived children of Uganda. Not all children have access to playground spaces in Uganda. In situations where they do have access children still seen to suffer because the playground space does not aim to enhance their health or learning. EAP develops a model using which it has built around 90 playgrounds in the country and makes use of 30 professional playground builders in the process (East African Playgrounds, 2016).Playgrounds are either built as independent units or are built as part of schools. There are more than 145,000 children using such playgrounds and benefitting from them currently. EAP now wants to expand in terms of these playground locations and wants to enhance the quality of play that children get in these playgrounds. They also want to make the experience for children more sustainable.

International students would play a major role in the economy of the country in which they go to study. Volunteering for activities such as the ones proposed by the EAP will make their study experience a holistic one.
