Tasks of problem solving are attached with the course work of learners on regular basis in majority of the courses such as some courses of social science, technology, mathematics and science. These have been identified as the most important part for the work of learners as there is a significant need of applying principles and knowledge in accordance with new and different situations (Rose, 2007). This helps to test and to reinforce the real understanding of learners with respect to what has been learned by them.
Based on innovative ideas, this paper will be focusing on the enhancement of three main areas in order to enable the success of the students with the help of problem solving tasks. These three key areas will include engagement within the curriculum, regular accessibility for supporting the process of learning and to enable a sense related to belonging. This development and refinement will act as a foundational base for the successful process of learning.
Motivation has been identified as the prominent concern amongst all educational institutes. With the focus being created on the learners, learners can be engaged in curriculum if they are motivated. Engagement is known to be related with the positive outcomes in academic that includes a persistence and achievement at educational institute and it is considerably high in those institutes where there are supportive peers and teachers (Rose, 2007). The enhancement of motivation can be done by the involvement of problem solving tasks. For this particular purpose, there can be an involvement of social interaction as a task for problem solving. Social interaction contributes in the creation of opportunities for the learners in talking about their thought process and this contributes in the encouragement of reflection. With the involvement of social interaction, the teachers can be successful in spotting the contradictions and insufficiencies amongst the learners (Krajcik, 2006). This particular problem solving task helps in the devising new and extremely viable strategies for the understanding of concepts. Hence, it can be stated that this particular task of problem solving behaves as a vehicle in the process of learning.
