Researchers focus on how and why it becomes possible for tourists to select urban spots for their tourism venture in an easier manner than any other. Researchers also focus on how the city is usually not created for tourist use unlike the cultural spots that are usually put together for tourist use. Similar to cultural spots, museums and other man made elements are usually present in order to ensure that the people are satisfied. The urban tourist spot on the other hand might not be that well put together. In the case of some spots such as Las Vegas the tourist spot is put together as a recreation of many things, from gambling to others (Law, 1996). Another important point that is presented by researchers is that more often in the economic context, it has been noted that different cities might benefit in different ways from the tourism context. Usually cities that have a large economically varied base are the ones that benefit more from tourism compared to the ones that are more dependent on it (Coppock, & Duffield, 1975, Cosgrove & Jackson, 1972).

Where there is a good varied economic base, then it so happens that a strong tourism might not be a requirement, and yet this is the very situation where tourism would have a positive impact on economy. In the case of those situations where an economy is very dependent on tourism, then it is more likely that tourism would not meet their need. This form of a paradoxical relationship is seen in very many tourist spots (Ashworth & Page, 2011).In terms of urban tourism yet, another noted concept is how there is a critical symmetry between the relationship of the tourist with the city and how this relationship would vary based on requirement of the tourist. This holds many implications for policy management. In the tourism industry, even in urban tourism there are many flexible needs (Lennon, 2002). Research studies cite some of them as that management and planning impact, the typology of tourist cities, the marketing management etc.
