Originally, the classical theories such as Taylors’ theory of scientific management focus on the tangible outcomes. The benefit of adoption of this theory is that it focusses only on the talent and the potential of the people. It was used as a valuable tool to assign people based on their potential. There was overlooking of the nepotism that was found to exist in the societies (Shields et al., 2015). It does not factor in the innate needs of the situation. The innovativeness of the employees or the emotions is not considered. Hence the theorists alluded that this theory was to change people into machines. Another popular classical theory was the Weber theory.

The innate critique of this model was the stifling of creativity and the reduced effectiveness. These models do find relevance in the current times, it is not entirely outdated. The Toyota production system of manufacturing uses this model to ensure that the quality outcomes of the people are met.
