My personal opinion with regards to the initiative by the government to consider in the opinions of the general public towards the formulation of budget is very amazing. It was at the time of taking this survey that I realized how much efforts are put in the government so as to ensure that each and every part of the society is taken care of and no section of the society is left worse off. However, there were some scenarios wherein I believe that some stringent actions by means of increasing the tax rate is necessary. I believe that younger generation of the society is the upcoming future of the nation and hence it is very crucial that due focus is given to their education. Thus, in my opinion the budget must focus on raising the spending on K-14 education as well as on higher education. At the same time, the other aspect at which the government could look into is that of increasing the safety measures of the residents by raising the funding to the local government. Moreover, they should also look into focusing on various other services of the local government which in turn would impact the lives of people. This activity was more of a learning experience to me as I got to realize how the government procures different sources of funds from the society and at the same time how are these funds allocated on various government schemes for the welfare of the society.

The most enthralling thing which I got to realize was that involved executives have to take into consideration that the budget does not go into deficit. A deficit occurs when the expenditure which the government is planning to incur on various schemes tends to exceed the revenues which are available to the government from different sources. Hence, sometimes they have to take some difficult decisions at times to cut out funding to certain schemes so as to ensure that the schemes which are more important are duly taken care of. From the aspect of revenue, I realized that it is very crucial to ascertain that not a high rate of tax is being charged to citizens and at the same time it must also be ensured that a right amount of tax is charged so that the government has enough funds to meet its expenditure. With the help of this exercise, I realized that the process of budget formation is not an easy task and it requires certain kind of skills which is gained with an experience. Moreover, as a citizen I also understood that if the government increases the rate of income tax, sales tax or any other kind of tax, it is just because they wish to procure more funds in order to channelize them to schemes which are meant for the overall development of the entire society and each and every individual. Thus, I would regard this activity to be a great learning opportunity.
