Further according to Elder (2007), it contributed to bring together the sense of nationalism and bringing together the people belonging to shared ethnicity, language and culture. The change in trend the movies are being produced is dependent on how the cultural aspects are changing as Australia as a nation is shifting from mono culture to multi culture society. The films that are produced in locations in Australia give visual representation of the natural landscape and urban identity of the country. For example the movie ’The Castle’ is set in Victoria and ‘Crocodile Dundee’ is set in the Northern territory of Australia. These depict Australian way of life and Australia’s attraction as a tourist destination. Several objects or things are being depicted in the movies that bind together the national identity. For example in the movie ‘Crocodile Dundee’ the wildlife and cultural objects have been used to emphasize national identity. This was a huge boost as it highlighted Australia as a=land of rarest animals in the world. Similarly Boomerang, a well known symbol in Australia and Victorian Beer, used in the movie ‘The Castle’ are examples of Product placement in movies. There has been shift in the Australian culture as during the 1970s the Australian was considered as Mono Cultural Society, however, post 1980 Australia became multi cultural society. So the films that were being produced also shifted in the way the national identity was depicted. For example two movies that were successful at that time were Mad Max and Gallipoli. The Australian identity was expressed in the movie ‘Mad Max’ by showing masculinity. Similarly, in Gallipoli the war and men in war symbolized masculinity was associated to Australian identity.
