However, there exist some differences in Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism religion of China. Taoism emphasis on living in peace with the surrounding environment and Confucianism emphasizes on developing a structured society for living. Confucianism is not a religion but an ethical and philosophical system that determines the way of living for Chinese people. On the contrary, Taoism is practiced as a firm of religion basically in the Chinese culture.
Buddhism, on the other hand, is significantly different from Confucianism and Taoism as it is imported from India to Eastern regions. Buddhism according to me is most justified to be followed by the Chinese people as it emphasizes on attaining true happiness through an individual’s spiritual development. Buddhism is known to have widest influence in the recent time in the Chinese culture. It has been estimated that about 183 million people believe in Buddhism in China and only 33 million have faith in Christianity (Baumann, p 9) Buddhism was brought in China over 2,000 years ago and now is widely accepted by most of the Chinese people. Buddhism is being followed by most people in Eastern region due to the ideology advocated by the religion which helps an individual to attain true happiness within oneself and removes the dependency on others for finding the happiness.
Thus, it can be inferred from the overall discussion that Buddhism is having the widest influence over people of Eastern religion. Confucianism is ethical and philosophical system that has a major influence on the Chinese people while Taoism is mainly a religion that emphasis on living in peace with the surrounding environment. Buddhism is both a philosophical system mad religion that provides a proper framework to be adopted by the people of Eastern region to attain true happiness. Thus, Buddhism is superior as per the discussion held in the essay over the other two religions.
