While the preparation of this report, I have realized the importance of a leader in the organization. After looking at the case study of Queensland health care, I realized that an organization can only grow if they have good leadership. While the use of theories in the report, I have confirmed my prior knowledge of management. I have concluded that leadership style matters a lot for determining the culture and structure of the organization.
In my prior knowledge, I came across the structure of hierarchy and bureaucratic where issues are present. In this case, issues were present because of rigid policies and extreme control. Even if employees are willing to do the task and they know that they are competent enough they won’t do the task. If they are unhappy with the organization or behaviour of their leaders, they will decrease their productivity levels. Some new insights however have hit me during the process of making this report.
I have come across the theory of Hersey and Blanchard. In their theory, they discuss about the maturity level of the employees. Sometimes, employees are not willing to do the task even when they are good in it. This aspect was new for me and I think this dimension can help me during my career. If I ever become a manger or a leader, I will make sure that members of my team are not willingly leaving the task. Good leadership will make or break the situation.
After looking at the case study of Queensland health care, I have realized that even when the organization is big and successful, if employees are not happy nothing has been achieved. Profits will come until a limited time frame and after that structure of the company will start to end. Retention of employees will be lost and every one will start leaving the company. A happy employee makes or breaks the situation for the future of the company. While making this business report, I have learned that time management is important while you are doing research on something. We were presented a case, and analysis on the basis of the case was supposed to be given. In future professional practice, I will use the knowledge gained in this business report. I have learned that superficial problems are not important. They can be resolved when root cause is identified. In the case of Queensland health, root cause of every problem was bad leadership practices and culture of the company. I will use this analysis in the future and gain benefit from what I have learned today.
