The methodology with respect to the animation of character is provided here. The unique terminology and categorization is used here, although there have been crossing of materials with regards to the different personalities and the styles of animation. Irrespective of the person(s) doing the animation, they have important and common methodology. For Disney, there is great importance attached to the animation in relation to the skeptics hiring animators for having a great deal of professional experience.
The hiring principle of Disney is getting talented pass outs from schools as they would be maliable and young and are free from the bad habits that are deep rooted. The policy is to let the young talent enter the bottom rung and proceed with the process of long apprenticeship. However, in this method, it was not possible for most in advancing far, as there is congestion in Disney with little room for moving up.
There are choices of three types of animation for this paper.
Digital 2D animation: It is the most popular animation production methods now. So it will be easy to find the answer related to any questions when making it.
Stop-motion animation: It will be an easy way to tell a story, although it takes a lot of time to make so many pictures.
Flip book Animation: Have to draw lots of pictures. This type can give people fillings of returning to their childhood. In the event of it being a link to the story, all the better.
3D animation is not chosen because the skills required are too hard.
The methodology provided here has the outline of seven steps with which the character will be animated and executed.
A clear brief is obtained from the animator. Knowledge is gathered as much as possible. The knowledge should be related to the sequences and the scenes that the performance is created for. The script is read. The character is known. The work’s framework is the information that will guard the animator from the wastage of energy and the time while approaching the wrong path.
This is the step that involves brainstorming. This step can be considered as the most difficult as there can be temptations in bypassing this step and jumping straight to the animation. There would a number of 2D and 3D animators who would draw thumbnail sketches in finding personality filled and clear poses.
The brainstorming can be done by the animators through sketching out the approach that occurs in their mind first and then doing it that way. The purpose of this is removing the animator’s cliché from his performance. The animators need to stretch themselves in trying to find a performance of animation that is new. The animator will select his important poses with the showing of the thumbnail before he proceeds with animation. This provides him the confidence in tackling his scenes with more substance and more vigour.
