During the 18th century, Egypt was declared a power of the world. The throne was ascended by Amenhotep (IV) who was called Akhenaten later on. From this perspective, it can be highlighted that the Egyptian history has always portrayed the presence of religion and ideas over God as a universal being (Emerton 231). The conception of religion for Jewish has an even perspective on God and displays an inclination towards being based over the Egyptian religion. The aim of this essay is to analyze whether the Egyptian religion caused an influence over the Jewish religion conception or not. The scope of this essay is from discussing the contrasting features of wisdom texts of Egypt and book of proverb to explain the nature of Myth creation by Egyptians and Hebrews in order to refer to the influence over Jewish religion concept.
Egyptian Texts of Wisdom and the Book of Proverbs
Book of Proverbs- has no reference of Israel’s history covenant. In the same way, the teachings in the Book with regard to morality and ethical aspects do not have any connection with the law of religion for legitimating the standards of validity becoming acceptable for others (Homung 246). It has also been argued by some that the book has a theology which is known as the theology of creation. Another theology with regard to this book lies in relating the wisdoms role as the principle that lies beneath the order in the world and hence, it is this that grounds and guides the creative existence continuance (Homung 246). This order principle governs all the creation occurrences. The Book therefore delivers that the necessity of God is a passive concept and all that is required is the presence of God, since, the aim of the book is over morality of humans and their ethical rights and behaviors.
