After conducting a self-evaluation of my skills, it was found out that to be a successful international manager in the future; I need to effectively improve these skills such as Communication, Time Management and Overseas Experience. Therefore, I need to focus on developing my communication skills so that I can be able to deliver my messages to employees belonging from different culture and communities. For example, as an international manager, I must focus on solving the issue which I faced while working with Chinese teammate.
Therefore, in this regard, it is important for me to gather the skills and knowledge of developing appropriate strategies such as training programs and translating documents in the team member’s language with the intention to effectively communicate with the teammates. Therefore, I should focus on gathering knowledge of foreign culture and languages so that it can assist me to not only motivate my employees but would also help me to develop as a successful international manager in the future (Danehl, 2016).
Similarly, the aspect of time management is an important factor that I should focus on considering it to be an essential skill of an international manager. Efficient time management skills would definitely help to improve the productivity of my group. For examples, in situations of completing a foreign project, it is essential for the international manager to possess an in-depth knowledge of different time zones under which the business is operating. Thus, with the aim to develop and enhance time management skills, I need to develop a To-Do list by carefully accessing the time of the other country. Moreover, I should focus on eliminating distractions within my team in order to complete the project within the stipulated time period (Birkinshaw and Caulkin, 2012).
